LHCb

LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty) is one of the main experiments conducted at CERN's Large Hadron Collider. Its aim is to study the asymmetry between matter and antimatter, analyze rare decays of particles containing heavy quarks in detail, and search for New Physics processes beyond the Standard Model.

As part of the research and development efforts related to the upgrades of the LHCb detector and future machines such as the FCC (Future Circular Collider), scientists from the WFiIS KOiDC are involved in developing and testing detectors, studying the effects of radiation on silicon sensors, developing software for high-level triggers and long-lived particle reconstruction, and analysing data from the experiment. We specialise in methods that utilise machine learning.
